Panasonic DVD VIDEO RECORDER?

Q) hi ,I have got this recorder, which I havn't used very much, but now when I play a dvd, it plays in black and white,only, any suggestions ?. my set up consists of the dvd recorder, a video, and the telly. Ihave checked all the leads thanks

A) if you still got it under guarantee then you can take it back to the shop and inform them of ure problems they should be able to either replace yours or send it away for repair...me personally ill stick with me betamax VCR not bad for 20 yr old machine

Recently bought lcd tv and dvd/video recorder. Any ideas why when using dvd/video the colour quality is bad?

Q) The picture goes a greeny colour when viewing through the DVD/Video recorder. The picture was fine when we used the DVD/Video recorder with our old telly. The old telly had no scart connection and we had to route it through our old video player. Does anyone have any idea whether it is the TV, the DVD/Video recorder or the scart lead/connection that is to blame?

A) Hi, This happened a friend of mine before and it was due to 2 of the SCART pins being bent. The best thing is to rule out one thing at a time: 1) Have a look at the cable first. Then if you have another SCART cable try this. Always good to rule the cables out. 2) You may want to try playing around with the colour settings, as they have have been set improperly. 3) Borrow a DVD player from a friend and hook it up with both yours and then their SCART cables. 4) Hook the DVD player to another TV The steps above will help you rule out exactly where the issue is. If its not a cable I would strongly recommend bringing the offending device back for a replacement. Repairs can sometimes be iffy HTH

recording a web video directly to video recorder or external dvd recorder?

Q) Is it possible to record from a computer a web music video directly to my tv video recorder or dvd recorder what lead would i need and where to connect ? My computer is windows vista , thanks really appreciate any help .

A) I don't think so. You'll have to save it to your hard drive, then burn a DVD.

Can I record Sky TV with a DVD/Video recorder?

Q) I have just bought a very expensive Toshiba DVD/video/HDD recorder alosng with a brand new TV. I also have Sky. Everything is connected OK - it has been checked but I can't recored Sky. Can you recored from the Sky box/sattelite or does all recording have to come from the ariel ie, terrestrial? I live in the country and the TV pics are rubbish unless watching through the Sky dish. Please help...

A) You can record from Sky. Run a scart cable from the Sky box to your video/DVD/HDD Recorder and record on your Auxiliary (AU) Channel on the machine.

Hi I live in UK can anyone recommend a dvd/video recorder that enables me to transfer video to dvd?

A) I have found a simple solution if you have a stand alone dvd recorder (it has to have 2 scart sockets) any dvd recorder should work ok. use 1 scart lead to connect your video to the dvd recorder and the other one to connect to your tv. On the tv select the dvd channel and on the dvd itself find the channel that links to the video (a video on pause helps a lot with finding it) Then all you need to do is place a blank DVD in the recorder, press record and press play on the video and it should record onto the disc. Its worth noting that the quality isnt as good as transfering to pc as a dvd file but you can leave it to record and do other things or even watch as it's being recorded.

A) I used to buy dvds on Amazon.com (USA) and I just went to Argos and bought their cheapest dvd player for £17.89 it plays every region, so I suggest you do that for the next time, it's worth having if you are going to be watching a lot of them, plus if you buy region 1 dvd's second hand on Amazon.co.uk they are a lot cheaper!!

A) These diagrams from Sony might help you connect without a SCART box, depends on make and model of your various bits and pieces.

A) Can have a zillion reasons, especially with expression like "....carnt get the the video to play on the tv or dvd properly ..." What means "properly". Does it play, yes or no? Toshiba DVD video recorder?

Q) I hooked up my dvd recorder to my television with the red, white and yellow cable. I can watch movies and I even formated a dvd-rw. When I try to auto program the channels into the thing, all I get is static. I cannot view tv channels at all as long as the thing is turned on. I am assuming that I will not be able to record any shows because of this. What am I doing wrong?? Is there a reason why it needs to be hooked up to a vcr? Or should I just not question this? haha!

DVD video recorder?

Q) I have a JVC dvd recorder that won't read any disc I put in including those that were recorded on it. I have tried different brands and it still won't work. Is there a way I can fix it? I contacted JVC by e-mail but they didn't answer. DON'T BUY JVC!!! I can play a recorded movie without any problem, the store bought kind. Thanks for your feedback.

A) I agree with Mr Ed. Try playing a CD in your player before ripping the guts out of it and cleaning the lens. If the CD plays then your lens isn't dirty. You'll most likely have a faulty laser reader and it's a professional job to replace it. DVD players are pretty much a disposable appliance these days and it may cost more to repair than to replace. If it needs repair get a quote first. Before dismantling the player try using a lens cleaning disk. I have had some success with these, try it 2 or 3 times then put in a test CD. Is your player still under warranty? Dismantling it to clean it will void any warranty you have. If you're reasonably handy with a screwdriver and your player is out of warranty there is no harm in trying to clean the lens yourself but there are two things you need to do which may seem obvious but there are people out there who don't know: 1) Unplug the player before you go any where near it with a screwdriver- mains voltage can kill! 2) Use an insulated screwdriver when messing around in the innards and make sure you don't touch any of the electrical components. Static electricity from your body can fry some parts and some parts (capacitors) actually store electricity and touching them can be a "shocking experience". If you're not comfortable doing the job yourself just take it along to your repair shop, hopefully with your valid warranty card.

What are the best cds to use with a sony dvd/video recorder?

Q) I have bought maxell dvd-rw and -r and both dont work. In the book it says that i can use 1x or 2x -r and that is what i bought but it is still not working. When i first bought the dvd recorder it worked just fine with the -rw of any kind now it wont record on any disk. I want to be able to re-record but i am wondering if there is something wrong with my dvd player its only a few months old.

A) taiyo yuden are the best blanks i know of but you pay more for them. make sure the disks you are using aren't +dvdr because your player might not record to + disks

I have a question about my go-video dvd recorder?

Q) When I recorded something from my tv to dvd recorder (govideo) I putted a dvd + rw disk in and push record and had everything set up but after the show was done it said "please wait while the dvd recorder stops the current record. After that was finished ejected the disk and put it back in to test if it recorder and it did not it said empty disk. So I putted the disk into my computer and I found out it did work. Why when I put the disk in the govideo it says empty disk? I recorded from that govideo so it should work. It was a maxell disk.

A) Hi having record problems go into setting in your recorder and make sure you have the disk set to be closed -finalized when done recording. You need to close the disk you have already recorded in govideo put disk back in player go to setting and select close or finalize to end disk then cross fingers and push play hope this works for you.

Saving TiVo-like digital video recorder data onto DVD's?

Q) I have a Dish Digital Video Recorder (similar to a TiVo unit-essentially a harddrive to save digital TV/cable data). It is model DP Plus625. I've got lots of TV programs recorded on it. I'd like to save them on DVD's. Is there a way to do that? I also have a Panasonic DMR-ES15 DVD RECORDER. Can I use this to record the material from the DP Plus625 onto DVD's? Can I use this to burn DVD's from the DP Plus625 unit.

A) Yes, you would need to run the video output from the DVR to the the input of the DVD recorder.

Is there a hard drive video recorder (without dvd-r) for my TV?

Q) I just want a Tivo like thing to replace my VCR. I can't get Tivo or anything similar because I don't have a phone line. Also I don't have and do not want to get digital cable (I'm a college student living in student housing, come on!) Many of the hard drive recorders I've see are merely secondary features on a DVD recorder. DVD recorders suck. I've used many of them and I'm not wanting that at all. Another thing, I DO NOT want to use my computer at all. I've heard it's the easiest and cheapest, but I just don't want to watch TV on my computer. I don't need an on-screen tv guide either. I never had one with my VCR, and manually setting a recording up isn't a big deal at all. So, like a 60-120 GB hard drive PVR. Hooks up like a VCR, works like a VCR, but you don't need tapes...or dvds or any other media. Is that out there anywhere?

What do I need to transfer dvd video recorder to a disc?

A) Hi Thomas S, I use DVD Xpress. With DVD Xpress you can transfer your video to your hard drive and then edit it if you desire. DVD Xpress comes with basic video editing software. I burned a DVD+RW disc with a video recorder. My DVD player only plays the audio. The recorder plays it fine?

Q) The recorder is a Magnavox MWR10D6 video recorder and the DVD player is AMW S99. I'm recording through a satellite box. I've tested the cables on the DVD player, they work fine and I've tried commercial DVDs that play back fine too. This AMW S99 is supposed to play back DVD recordables from what I've read on the Internet.

A) many recorders have built in features that only allow the DVD burned by the recorder to be played on the recorder. it is a pain...

Q) I'm using Panasonic DVD-RAM, 4.7GB, re-writable.. Message says "read only".or "This is a non-recordable disc". What's wrong? Machine and disc both brand new.

A) Make sure the disk is clean, but you already know that. As for your problem, it's got me. try turning the power on and off. Ring the Manufacturer or the retailer and ask them.
