Which is the best brand for audio quality for a micro hifi system?

Q) There is Bose, Denon, Harman and Kardon, Bang and Olufsen, Yamaha, Onkyo... the list goes on. Can you recommend a decent quality Hifi mini system that i could plug my laptop, mp3(not a rubbish ipod), and has a DAB radio... Which connections would i use also? Added bonus would be one that could connect to my LCD tv as well.. Many thanks

Do large screen TVs these days have phono sockets to connect to your existing hifi system?

Q) I last bought one in 1993, and it was hard then to find one with this feature. I have a very good audio system, and I want to incorporate a new Tv in this, not have it as a stand alone or "home theatre system" . Also, the output from the Tv needs to be via phono leads

A) Yes, my friend has a 37" vizio flatscreen lcd with the standard red/white rca sockets. Before you buy in store, you should be able to view any tv's complete specs online, including input/output sockets. Hope that helps.

Fatman iTube valve amp system : can you use any old hifi speakers with it?

Q) I'm being won over by the much acclamed Fatman valve amps but am not sure whether to buy the speakers with it... I have a Panasonic Hifi system which I bought a few years ago and was wondering whether i could use its speakers on the Fatman? Also, if you have any recommendations on a retailer, online or otherwise please let me know! Any advice would be much appreciated!!! Thanks

A) You might be able to use your Panasonic speakers with it. You'd need to check the wattage capability of the speakers against the amp, and more importantly, the resistance, which is measured in ohms (often a sign just like the Greek 'Omega' letter). You'll find this info on the back of the speakers and in the spec sheet for the amp. If you could afford it' I'd go with the speakers that were designed for it, as a valve amp can sound a bit different to a normal transistor amp. It's certainly a sexy looking piece of kit, hope you enjoy it!

Which is the best wireless hifi system?

Q) I was going to buy a philips wacs700 and was7000, but I have seen a cheaper Wacs3500 and heard about the wacs5000. I would like to know which is the best and gives the best sound output? Thanks for your help.

A) Unfortunately, when it comes to hi-fi, you can't use the words "best" and "wireless" in the same sentence. All wireless hi-fi systems, no matter what they cost, suffer from sound drop-out, signal degradation and static. These problems can be caused by the weather, passing vehicles, other electrical appliances, mobile phones or even by someone simply moving around the room. If you want good, reliable sound quality, you will need cables. And you won't want to buy anything from Philips, believe me...

good suond quality micro hifi system?

Q) i want to buy micro hifi system with the good sound quality.which model ,which brand you recommend?

A) Ive found JVC makes the best stereos, I have a good Philips shelf cd stereo try JVC, or Philips.

Can anyone help? playing digital music on a Hifi system?

Q) Is it possible to get memory card readers /usb input connectors so I can play mp3 music & audio books to a simple Hifi system? or on my car's radio, cd,player if so where?? and how?? ...money is tight (isn't it always) thanks Jack

A) It is now legal in the UK to use small short-range FM transmitters connected to an MP3 player. There are many available for the iPOD but limited for other types of MP3 player. Basically, you plug the device into your iPOD and it broadcasts the audio on a short range FM frequency which you then tune your car radio into. The quality is equivalent to listening to the radio. There are various types available, but for about £35 you should be able to get one that plugs into the cigarette lighter (so your iPOD charges) and allows you to change the frequency broadcast to avoid interference.

Which mini hifi system is the best quality/value for money?

A) a sony cmt-a50..is worth considering buying. i got one last xmas and it is a brilliant little hi-fi. plays cds and mp3 discs . and you can make an ATRAC DISC with the software that comes with the hi-fi .and the atrac disc holds 30 FULL ALBUMS.. cost last year was £110..approx.. 163 euros
