Whats the best way to enable my PDA with GPS and a road map programme?

Q) Whats the best way to enable my PDA HP iPAQ (blue tooth and mobile windows 5 operating system) with a GPS roadmap, like a Tomtom. I think I need a receiver but do these come with the maps and programming to allow the fuctionality similiar to that of a Tomtom? It all seems rather complicated!! Please help

A) You will need a bluetooth receiver, GPS software designed for Windows Mobile, and maps. My husband uses Tomtom software on his Dell Axim pocket PC with a bluetooth receiver, and it's *much* better than the Navman satnav we used to have.

How do I connect a Pharos USB GPS receiver to a PDA?

Q) Qtek 9100 PDA, Pharos USB GPS receiver (from Microsoft Streets and Trips) What equipment is available to utilise the receiver as a bluetooth GPS receiver. Recommend a good US/ Europe mapping program

A) with no model number for the pharos it is hard to tell. the ones i found after a quick 'google' did not have bluetooth. the qtek has a mini usb connector while the reciever seems to come with full size usb connector. therefore, either purchase a new bluetooth reciever or a standard to mini usb adapter. there is a nation of mapping software that will work with windows pocket pc OS, some cheaper than others but i would think tom tom is one of the most popular.

advise on gps/pda?

Q) Anybody can recommend me a good/cheap gps/pda. I have been looking to the garmin ique m3, ique m5, ique 3000. But i have no idea which one is better, why, or what to do. Any help?

A) I personally think a pda is a pain in the butt to use as a gps. I would get a standalone gps such as the Garmin i3 or i5, they are less expensive than a PDA and in my opinion, much better. Also look at Garmin c320, c330 and higher models. All are reasonably priced and excellent mapping software. Read the reviews on Amazon.com

What is the best PDA with GPS?

Q) don't need phone, but will get one with pda and gps navigation if necessary

A) I love my Garmin iQue 3600 with Palm OS. It plays mp3's, it give turn by turn directions, I geocache with it, and I use it like any other Palm. Garmin has made this unit much more robust than Palm is making their units now--but it is not as tough as a dedicated GPS unit. The sad part is Garmin discontinued the 3600. I bought mine --a refurbished unit that Garmin warranty's for one year on eBay for $250, including the car navigation kit. I then bought a 2 GB SD card for the maps and mp3 songs and an external GPS antennae for better reception while driving in forests and through mountains. If you want more info on these units, I suggest www.palmblvd.com, go to the Palm unit forums, click on the Garmin iQue 3600 and you will see how many folks love these units! Good luck!!

GPS Locator for PDA phone (Samsung i730) ?

Q) How can I connect a GPS locator to my PDA phone (Samsung i730) to turn it to a GPS system ? Thanks....

A) You will need two things I know of for sure: a bluetooth gps receiver and the gps software itself. They are usually sold as a package along with (but not always) some accessories like a memory card and/or pda suction-cup window mount. You can get the software and receiver separately. This is done sometimes because you may like a particular software but their may be better receivers out there.
