Epson photo printer Questions and AnswersWhat's the difference between the Epson D68 printer and the D68 Photo Edition?Q) I've lost the driver CD for my Epson D68 Photo Edition printer, but the Epson website only have drivers for the normal version of the D68. Would I lose something by installing them, or is the difference between the two a hardware one which the drivers don't have any control over?
A) Get the D68 drivers from the website. They are the same and would not cause any problems.
Good luckEPSON STYLUS PHOTO R800 printer problem!! Help!!?Q) Whenever I turn on my Epson Photo Printer, it makes the usual noises and everything, and then, suddenly, it makes a click and then the ink and paper red lights start flashing very, very quickly and in sync with each other...has my printer died?? Please, I need to print of something really soon and I need to know whether or not to just get a new one.
A) Usually that means there is a cartridge error. Check you ink level to ensure that all 8 of your cartridges are recognizing properly.
If one of them has a little question mark, replace it. That should resolved your issue. epson printer hate being turned off, it does have a standby mode that the printer will default to when not in use.My Epson Photo Stylus printer has stopped recognising compatible ink cartridges. Any hints on fixing this?Q) Was printing just fine for months on compatibles. Last week it decided to reject a black cartridge then as I pressed the ink button and inserted another it decided to 'not recognise' all four catridges. Help!
A) With regard to the above answer, I don't understand how Epson can do this with an existing printer!
Are you quite sure that all 4 cartridges are not empty? Have you tried cleaning the nozzles? Also check there's no dust or muck on the electrical contacts at the back of the cartridge
Go through the printer troubleshooter. In Windows XP go to Start > Help and Support. When the Help page appears type 'Troubleshoot printer' in the search box and follow through the questions.
As a last resort, try System Restore. Type 'System Restore' in the Help search box and when the calendar appears select a date when you know (or hope!) the printer was ok. The computer restarts with the settings applicable to the earlier date.
Hope the above will help,How do i stop the "spooler" in my Vista OS for Epson Stylus Photo R220 driver so i can uninstall the driver ?Q) My Epson Stylus Photo Printer driver did not have the ink monitor function enabled, and i downloaded another driver from Epson. all the bestEPSON Stylus Photo printer problems?Q) I have an EPSON Stylus Photo printer R300 and until I reinstalled the software on my new laptop it was great. Since installing it onto the new laptop, any photos I print are coming out really dark - much darker than the actual photos on the screen. However, if I insert my memory card directly into the printer and print that way, the photos are fine and are the correct colour.
I've tried re-installing the software again, but nothing seems to make a difference. Can someone please advise me on how to get brighter pictures?
I've looked at updating drivers on Epson website but there are so many to choose from I don't know where to begin. My new laptop is using Windows XP - would that make a difference?
A) Go into your printer properties in control panel and change print quality, reduce it a little. You will have to play a little to find out what suits you.how do i use an epson printer?Q) Hi i have just getting a epson photo printer, so im new to this i have seen an article in a newspaper that i want to copy to show some one and i have no idea how or what to do. A) First of all, dear lady, have you installed the drivers for your multifunction device? These will be on the CD that came along with it.
Place the CD in the CD/DVD drive on your computer and it should autodetect and bring up a screen asking you what you want to do. My advice would be to choose all the options/install all components. This way you know you're going to install all that you need ... though you may well find, at a later date, that you don't need everything. When you're more akin with your product you can safely delete items that you don't use by going to Control Panel, and then double clicking on Add or Remove Programs.
Anyway, once you've installed the drivers, you'll be asked to connect your printer/multifunction device. Do so. (You should hear a beep type noise, indicating that Windows has detected a new USB device has been plugged in.) You'll also see a small window appear at the bottom right of your screen, telling you that it's found your printer. Before you can print anything, you need to insert the printer cartridges. I see, from the manual for your product, that it has four individual cartridges. It should be self-evident from the colour symbols on the cartridge tray where the individual ink cartridges should be positioned. Once you've done that (remember to remove the little plastic yellow sticky tape that it tells you to), you're ready to go.
I'm not actually familiar with your multifunction device, so please excuse me if I sound confusing.
What you need to do is to scan the document/newspaper article that you wish to send, and then save it on your computer. You'll need to save it somewhere that you'll be able to remember. My suggestion would be to save it as a picture file (.jpg format will save space, and will be readily 'readable' by most graphics programs) to somewhere like C:\Documents and Settings\ <your name>\ My Documents\ My Pictures ... but call it something that you'll easily remember, such as Newspaper cutting.jpg, or something like that.
When you send an email to someone you type your text, and then click on Add File(s). This is where you then click on Browse and look to where you saved your file. Double-click on the file ... Hopefully, you've called it something that's easy for you to remember. You'll know then which to double-click on.
If you're not sending it by email, but simply wish to print it out, you'll need to load the picture file into a graphics programme [program, if you insist on using Americanisms. lol.] There's one in Windows called Paint. You'll find this if you click on Start (bottom left of your desktop) and then move to All Programs > Accessories > Paint. (There are better graphics programs available, but Paint is already there. That's why I chose it.)
Again, you'll need to click on File and then move to Open, and then guide yourself to where you saved your file.
Once you've loaded your picture up, click on File again and then select Print Preview. This will give you a look at what it will look like on your piece of paper. Sadly, in Paint, you're limited on what you can then do. You can't resize it from Print Preview, though you can if you click on File and then move down to Page Setup. Be aware, however, that this isn't a very powerful program, and you're likely to make the image pixelated ... make it jagged edged.
Do what you need to here, and then click on File, again, and then select Print. Hey presto. Your printer should turn out a beautiful looking print.
With your newspaper article, you can do the same sort of thing, OR, if your multifunction device drivers included OCR software (Optical Character Recognition) you can scan the document in and save it as a document, rather than a picture. These files are usually smaller than picture files, which enables you to save even more space on your hard drive.
I won't go into details about how to scan using OCR software as we'll be here all night. If you do need a hand with that, however, simply click on my avatar/photograph and send me an email. I'll be only too happy to help you out.
I wish you the best of luck, and hope that I've helped in some small way. If I've made it too complicated, send me an email and shout at me. I'll do my best to put things right.driver for an epson stylus photo 830 printer?Q) Does anyone know where i can download the driver for an epson stylus photo 830 driver?
A) Check the site below (directly from Epson); I couldn't find the 830 but I did find the 825...How can I reset the waste ink counter on my Epson R280 printer?Q) Does anyone know how to reset the waste ink counter on Epson Stylus Photo R280 printer? Or where can I buy a waste ink resetter/adjustment program for R280 printer?
A) I have an Epson Stylus Photo 830. I guess it may have a similar system: The cartridges themselves have chips in them that count down how much ink is in the cartridge. They can't be reset, which is why you find even recycle schemes won't take Epson cartridges.
Best answer is to buy good quality compatibles. After many bad experiences, I have found the company below who do good cartridges at throwaway prices. They do inks for your printer as well- although R280 is a US designation, and R285 is the UK equivalent.Any one got probs with printer epson photo R300 I have just solved one?A) My son's R300 isn't being recognised. USB detects that something is attached but doesn't recognise it as a printer. If I unplug his printer, and attach my own R300, everything is OK. I am able to print and all sorts.
Epson's online help was abysmal. They kept telling me to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. After my saying that the drivers must be installed correctly, otherwise why would it work with my own printer attached, I decided to follow their advice. Of course, it still doesn't work. I knew I was right all along.Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer, how do i print using just one cartridge?Q) It takes 6 different coloured cartridges and the light cyan & magenta are empty. I just want to print in black though, can this be done without having to go and buy more ink?

I just got a new Epson r1800 photo printer for a present. What kind of learning curve till I master it?Q) I just got a great present: an r1800 Epson photo printer. I just spent the past year mastering digital photography and photoshop. I am really appreciate about getting this gift, but how long will it take for me to master the printing process, say, if I have about 7 to 10 hours to study it a week? This is going to be a big time commitment. I know in the end it's worth it but it's so easy just to send out your jpeg files to 'labs' Any suggestions on learning the printer? Would a course be helpful?
A) It is surprisingly easy to use (master). I also own an R1800 and made great prints from first day. The key is to have your monitor calibrated by "spyders". Once your monitor is calibrated, what you see is what you get.
Also make sure that you stick to Epson paper and ink. They are calibrated for each other. And make sure that you use the proper paper profile when printing. You can download them from the installation CD or from Epson website. You usually get the most uptodate profiles from the website.
I am a member of Yahoo R1800 group and you can ask for more detailed questioned there.

I found a great online deal for an epson photo printer (with the genuine epson cartridges coming in the same pack which is pretty nice), but I am not sure if it is a good idea to buy it online (vs. a store locally). Any suggestions?
A) I think an argument can be made for both sides. There are obvious benefits for both cases. For instance, if you buy online, you can thoroughly research the product and get great deals like the one you mentioned. But in person, you can see the product and perhaps get a warranty. It is really up to you and how comfortable you feel in your printer decision. It sounds like you have a good idea about what you want. Just make sure the online store is reputable. You know, the usual signs like an encrypted shopping cart, status with the BBB, etc. As long as you take these precautions, I say go for it!Can I use ANY photo paper with an Epson photo printer?Q) I am getting an Epson Stylus R1400 and I wanna print some photos, can I use a cheaper photo paper than name brand Epson paper?
A) Epson would of course like to make money on your purchasing of EPSON printer paper... It really doesn't matter at all the brand of paper you use.
Use whatever you like :)
There is however one thing to take note of. Do not use laserjet paper in an inkjet or inkjet paper in a laser printer for best results :)Where can I buy Epson Stylus Photo R380 printer?Q) I need to buy Epson Stylus Photo R380 printer. I am located in the United Republic of Tanzania. So I need to buy this printer from the company which can ship this item to this country. Please, let me know the company which sells this type of printer and which can ship items to any place in the world. Please mention the company's website since I prefer online shopping. Thank you.

It is relatively new (less than 6 months). I just replaced three of the 6 ink cartridges. Now I am getting dotted lines down the pages/CDs for two of the colors I replaced (black and magenta). Does anyone know what could be causing this? I used Epson cartridges. I've been through the Nozzle Test and Head Cleaning but neither helped. Any suggestions?

i set it on glossy paper setting, i cleaned out the printer and it still comes out blotchy.
A) Try using a support sheet to keep the paper straight as it goes through the printer. Make sure the printer is level and not surrounded by books and other stuff.will an epson photo printer work with a nikon camera?A) camera/printer has no special relationship (unless its a special docking cradel like Kodak then that is specifically Kodak) . I like the photosmart HP line. Great quality.I have an Epson Photo printer and the colors are not printing correctly.?Q) It prints dark and a lot of extra brown and greenish colors. Whites look grey. I have tried the manual and done the color checks and we took it apart and cleaned it. No change. The ink cartridges do not appear to be leaking. What can it be?
I have had the printer for several years and have had low ink before with no problem. Again, I have performed all the maintenance in the manual.
A) Modern printers do an "automatic" color adjustment. You cleaned it, but did you clean the LED on the print heads?? If you can see them go back & forth as it prints, you should see a blue lite - this is shining on the printed area to adjust colors.
There should be a self-adjust that can be run without connectioin to a PC.
Clean this & the sensor next to it.
Be sure to clean the 'clear' strip behind the moving heads [L-R position sensor] * the 'wheel' on the side.Should I be able to print in black from my Epson photo printer R340 when I am out of another color?A) Yes you do. You can print from Epson printer as Greyscale which is better than black and white.
Greyscale will produce different levels of gray according to color but of course, it only print in gray instead of color.Table './infoservice/infoservice' is marked as crashed and should be repaired
